Fondue is a way of communal dining where small pieces of food are dipped into a small pot over a burner. There are typically three courses. The first is a cheese course where pieces of bread, apples, and some vegetables are dipped into the melted cheese. Next, raw meat (chicken, steak, seafood) along with some vegetables are cooked in a broth on skewers. The final course is dessert; small pieces of cake, marshmallows, and fruit are dipped into melted chocolate.
The Melting Pot is located right off the Wake Forest Rd exit off 440 in Raleigh, and near the Streets at Southpoint in Durham.
The New Yorker – The Melting Pot is a fun place. Good for a date and the food is good. Nice variety–especially of things you wouldn’t normally order (melted cheese, melted chocolate). Nice change of pace.
The Raleigh-ite – Great fondue. If you have never done fondue, you should go and try it. I definitely enjoy it every once in awhile for a special event. Ordering all 3 courses (4 with a salad) is a must!
Do Over? Yes, The Melting Pot is a long meal so this Raleigh restaurant is ideal for a special event or with a group.
