Vinnie’s Steakhouse is located on Six forks road in north Raleigh across from Celebration at Six forks shopping center.

The New Yorker – Oysters very tasty. Salad- nice portion; we had them chopped. Steak was very flavorful & “prime” meat. Right price for the “prime” ribeye. Best steak I’ve had in Raleigh so far, if you like “prime” beef. (Prime is highest grade of meat.)

The Raleigh-ite – When we walked in we were not just greeted but welcomed by a VERY friendly hostess. We were lead to a private table for 2 in the back and as soon as we were seated a man brought us a deviled egg. This steakhouse makes you feel very well taken care of. Our waiter as excellent; he knew so much about the menu and was very doting the entire meal. I had a great filet cooked exactly how I ordered it. The house salad was excellent with a GREAT blue cheese dressing (light with chunks of blue cheese on top). The sides we ordered, asparagus and twice baked potato, were kinda mediocre compared to the rest of the meal. The twice baked potato had baken but minimal amounts of cheese. The creme brulee was excellent–just the right consistency with fruit on top.

Do over? Definitely be back. We crave the steak.

8/15/2009- We ordered: 1 glass of Moscato, 2 Bud Lights, 1 Oysters Rockefeller, 2 House Salads (chopped), 1 6 oz filet, 1 20 0z dry aged prime Delmonico ribeye, asparagus with hollandaise, twice baked potato, 1 coffee, 1 creme brulee. Total : $135.28

Melting Pot Restaurant Review

Fondue is a way of communal dining where small pieces of food are dipped into a small pot over a burner. There are typically three courses. The first is a cheese course where pieces of bread, apples, and some vegetables are dipped into the melted cheese. Next, raw meat (chicken, steak, seafood) along with some vegetables are cooked in a broth on skewers. The final course is dessert; small pieces of cake, marshmallows, and fruit are dipped into melted chocolate.

The Melting Pot is located right off the Wake Forest Rd exit off 440 in Raleigh, and near the Streets at Southpoint in Durham.

The New Yorker – Fun place. Good for a date. Food is good. Nice variety–especially of things you wouldn’t normally order (melted cheese, melted chocolate). Nice change of pace.

The Raleigh-ite – Great fondue. If you have never done fondue, you should go and try it. I definitely enjoy it every once in awhile for a special event. Definitely have to order all 3 courses (4 with salad).

Do Over? Yes, It’s a long meal so for a special event or with a group.

Bin 54 Restaurant Review

Bin 54 is located in the Glen Lennox shopping center near the intersection of Highway 54 and 15-501 in Chapel Hill.

The New Yorker- Nice restaurant/atmosphere. Presentation was very nice. I had the prime porterhouse; it was cooked how I wanted it. The sides were excellent– we had creamed spinach and twice baked potato. Their steaks on the menu are a mixture of USDA prime and Choice Black Angus.

The Raleigh-ite – We went here for Danny’s birthday with another couple. The waiters were very attentive. Excellent food. Awesome sides– the twice baked potato had tons of flavor. Great wine list. Homemade ice cream (they had 3 flavors, strawberry was the best) for dessert was delicious! Pricy.

Do over? A little too far for us, 30 minutes, but will be back if its a special occasion. If we lived in Chapel Hill we would definitely frequent.

Angus Barn Restaurant Review

The Angus Barn is located in Raleigh near the intersection of Glenwood Avenue with 540. The Angus Barn is a huge building (that looks like a barn) up on a hill.

The New Yorker – Very good prime rib. Excellent appetizers and salad. Angus Barn has a cigar bar, which would be cool for a night out with the guys. Atmosphere sucks.

The Raleigh-ite – Great wine list. Tables have red and white plaid table cloths. Steaks come with sides so it makes the Angus Barn a little cheaper in terms of other steakhouses in the area. Phenomenal meal, but why pay $100+/couple for a wonderful steak to eat it sitting in a barn?

Do over? If we were in the area, or we wanted to eat a casual steak meal we would be back to the Angus Barn, but we probably wouldn’t choose it for a night out over other steakhouses in the area.

Sullivan's Steakhouse Review

Sullivan’s Steakhouse is located in downtown Raleigh on Glenwood Avenue.

The New Yorker – Steak well cooked. Great presentation. Very friendly staff. Great Stone Crabs. Decent Porterhouse.

Almost comparable to NY steakhouse.

The Raleigh-ite – Love going to Sullivan’s. Great Atmosphere. Very romantic and a phenomenal meal.

Do Over? Definitely be back.
